Enjoy a greener stay at the Allingham Arms Hotel


At the Allingham Arms Hotel we believe that economic growth and the wellbeing of society are inextricably linked to the health of the environment. We embrace our responsibility for environmental leadership, and we are committed to consistently making improvements throughout the business to improve our sustainability practices.

These are just some of the ways we are working towards a sustainable future and reducing our carbon footprint:
  • The hotel caters for guests with electric vehicles, and we have installed 3 electric car charging ports at the hotel.
  • The hotel has installed solar panels to reduce our energy consumption.
  • We boost waste management plans that prioritises recycling. 
  • We have an emphasis on reducing food waste and we source ingredients from local suppliers where possible.
  • We have swapped to paper compostable straws in our bar and restaurant.
  • Cardboard packaging, glass, and batteries are all recycled, we are committed to further reducing waste to landfill.
  • We have reduced our paper usage by using QR guest directories, digital flyers, and we are moving to digital promotional material.
  • We promote sustainable water practices in our bedrooms including “Think before you flush”.
  • We recommend guests re-use towels and linen where possible to reduce water and energy consumption.
  • We encourage employees to regularly monitor all outside areas of the hotel and pick up any litter.
  • We use eco-friendly products where possible.
  • We are currently working on changing our lighting to energy saving LED lighting.
  • We encourage guests to avail of our free book library at reception. If you have finished your book, why not leave it for someone else and help yourself to another book.
  • We support sustainable transport by providing bus information to our guests.
  • Our aim is to become a more sustainable and environmentally friendly business. Our community and surrounding areas are very important to us, and we wish to contribute to its sustainable development.
